Easy Sourdough Pizza Crust

Easy Sourdough Pizza Crust

We like to make things easy around here... that is why we sell our Artisan Style Pizza Crust mix online and in our storefront. It has everything you need to quickly whip up some homemade dough with very easy instructions. However, you also know we love our sourdough! We have a delicious Sourdough Discard Breakfast Pizza recipe on our website that involves pouring sourdough discard right into a hot cast-iron pan. Super easy! But this time we wanted a crust that would be a little thicker, yet still light and delicious. Cue our new favorite sourdough crust!

Ingredients

  • 100g sourdough discard
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1.5 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 ¾ cups bread flour

Instructions

  1. Pour water and yeast into a stand mixer. We like to make sure we see the yeast bubble a little bit before moving on.
  2. Add the sourdough discard, sugar, olive oil, and flour to the bowl and mix using the paddle attachment first. Once the ingredients are incorporated, switch to the dough hook and knead for 5-10 minutes.
  3. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise for about half an hour or until the dough has doubled in size. We like to make it to this step before starting the pizza oven so it can rise while the oven heats up! You’re going to want the pizza stone at least 425º Fahrenheit.
  4. Once the dough has risen, press it out into the size and thickness you would like your pizza- remember it will rise as it bakes, too! This recipe can make two 12-inch pizzas with a thicker crust or one large pizza. Make sure to keep your launch pad under the dough thoroughly floured so that the pizza does not stick when you go to put it in the oven.
  5. Top your pizza with your favorite toppings!
  6. Launch the pizza into your WPPO oven onto the stone. Keep the door off and watch your pizza because it will cook fast! Turn as needed.
  7. Take pizza out when it appears finished and let it cool.
  8. Enjoy!

We hope you love this recipe as much as we do. It has quickly become a part of our weekly family dinners! Keep the Fire Burning 🔥
